This course provides candidates with the essential theoretical knowledge and practical skills to operate lorry loader cranes safely and competently, in line with current NPORS standards.

Anyone who is required to operate a lorry loader and has little to no prior experience.
By the end of the course, delegates will be able to:
• Understand the industry and associated hazards, along with operator responsibilities
• Demonstrate familiarity with the manufacturer’s handbook and other regulatory resources
• Identify and explain functions of the lorry loader’s major components and operating controls
• Carry out pre-operational checks to legal and manufacturer standards
• Configure the vehicle and crane for both travel and lifting operations
• Navigate open and confined spaces safely with the loader
• Conduct site-specific safety checks and risk assessments
• Correctly deploy stabilisers and comply with Rated Capacity Indicator (RCI) or Load Moment Indicator (LMI) systems
• Identify load weights and centres of gravity
• Safely execute lifts using the crane’s full capabilities
• Load and offload materials accurately and securely
• Attach, use, and remove lifting accessories properly
• Minimise load swing and ensure load security
• Complete end-of-shift and shut-down procedures
Upon successful completion, candidates will receive an NPORS Operator Card, depending on the chosen certification route, or a Simply Learning in-house certificate.
