The Level 2 Diploma in Interior Systems – Dry Lining Fixing is a nationally recognised qualification designed to develop the practical skills, knowledge, and competence required for the installation of dry lining systems within the construction and fitted interiors sector.
This qualification is suitable for individuals working, or aiming to work, in interior systems installation roles, including partition walls, suspended ceilings, and other dry lining applications. Learners will gain hands-on experience in fixing techniques, health and safety practices, and the correct use of tools and materials, preparing them to operate effectively in real workplace environments.
The course supports learners in achieving occupational competence under supervision and is ideal for those entering the sector, formalising existing skills, or seeking progression into more advanced interior systems roles.

Learners will develop skills and knowledge in areas such as:
Health, safety, and welfare in construction and interior systems environments
Safe use of tools, equipment, and materials specific to dry lining fixing
Measuring, marking out, and setting out work areas accurately
Installing plasterboard, partitions, and associated interior systems
Checking and maintaining the quality of installed work
Working effectively as part of a team on site
Optional units may allow learners to specialise further in specific interior systems or dry lining applications, depending on delivery model and employer requirements.
This is a competence-based qualification, assessed through:
Practical observation in a real or simulated workplace
Portfolio of evidence demonstrating applied skills
Professional discussion and questioning
Witness testimonies where appropriate
There are no formal examinations. Learners are assessed against national occupational standards to demonstrate real-world competence.
Remote assessment will be used wherever feasible; however, in some situations an in person observation may be required
On completion, learners may progress to: Level 3 NVQs or diplomas in Interior Systems or Fitted Interiors. Apprenticeships in dry lining, partitions, or interior systems. Employment as a dry lining operative or interior systems installer. Further specialist construction or fitted interiors qualifications. Learner will receive a certificate of competence from the awarding body
