The Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Insulation and Building Treatments (Construction) is a nationally recognised qualification designed to equip learners with the practical skills, knowledge, and competence required to carry out insulation and building treatment tasks safely and effectively in a construction environment.
This qualification is ideal for individuals new to the construction sector, or those currently working as operatives who want to formalise their skills in insulation installation, energy efficiency measures, and associated building treatments. Learners gain hands-on experience in real or simulated workplace settings, ensuring competence in practical applications.
The course supports learners in developing occupational competence under supervision and provides a solid foundation for career progression or further training in construction, retrofit, and energy efficiency sectors.

Learners will develop skills and knowledge in areas such as:
Health, safety, and welfare in construction and building treatments
Installing thermal insulation systems for walls, roofs, and floors
Preparing surfaces and materials for insulation or treatment
Measuring, marking out, and quality-checking installation work
Understanding basic construction regulations and codes of practice
Working effectively as part of a construction team
Optional units may allow learners to focus on specific insulation systems or building treatments, depending on delivery and employer requirements.
This is a competence-based NVQ, assessed through:
Observation of practical work in the workplace or simulated environment
Portfolio of evidence demonstrating applied skills and knowledge
Professional discussion and questioning
Witness testimonies where appropriate
There are no formal examinations. Learners are assessed against national occupational standards to ensure real-world competence.
Remote assessment will be used wherever feasible; however, in some situations an in person observation may be required
