The Level 2 Certificate in Fitted Interiors – Dry Lining Finishing is a nationally recognised qualification designed to develop the practical skills, knowledge, and competence required to carry out dry lining finishing work within the fitted interiors sector.
This qualification is suitable for individuals working, or seeking to work, in roles involving the installation and finishing of dry lining systems, such as plasterboard, partition walls, and related interior surfaces. Learners will gain hands-on experience in finishing techniques, industry best practice, and safe working methods.
It is ideal for new entrants to the sector, operatives seeking formal recognition of their skills, or those aiming to specialise in dry lining and interior finishing work. The course focuses on real workplace scenarios to ensure learners develop competence under supervision, supporting employability and career progression.

Measuring, marking out, and checking work quality

This is a competence based qualification, assessed through:
Practical observation in a real or simulated workplace
Portfolio of evidence demonstrating applied skills
Professional discussion and questioning
Witness testimonies where appropriate
There are no formal examinations. Learners are assessed against national occupational standards to ensure real-world competence.
Remote assessment will be used wherever feasible; however, in some situations an in person observation may be required
On completion, learners may progress to: Level 2 or Level 3 NVQs in Fitted Interiors or Interior Systems. Apprenticeships in dry lining, partitions, or interior finishing. Employment as a dry lining operative or interiors installer. Further specialist construction qualifications. Learners will receive a certificate of competence from the awarding body
