The Level 2 Certificate in Fitted Interiors is a nationally recognised qualification designed to develop the practical skills, knowledge, and competence required to work within the fitted interiors sector of the construction industry.
This qualification is suitable for individuals working, or seeking to work, in roles involving the installation of fitted interiors such as partitions, ceilings, raised floors, and associated interior systems. It provides learners with a strong foundation in industry standards, safe working practices, and the practical techniques required to operate effectively on site.
The qualification reflects real working environments and supports learners to develop occupational competence under supervision, making it ideal for those entering the sector or looking to formalise existing skills with a recognised qualification.

Learners will develop skills and knowledge in areas including:
Health, safety and welfare in a construction environment
Safe use of tools, equipment, and materials specific to fitted interiors
Preparing work areas and materials for installation
Installing fitted interior systems such as partitions and ceilings
Measuring, marking, and setting out work areas
Working effectively with others on site and following site procedures
Optional units may allow learners to specialise in particular fitted interiors systems, depending on delivery model and employer requirements.
This is a competence-based qualification assessed through:
Practical observation in the workplace or a simulated environment
Portfolio of evidence
Professional discussion and questioning
Witness testimonies where appropriate
There are no formal examinations. Learners must demonstrate competence against national occupational standards.
Remote assessment will be used wherever feasible; however, in some situations an in person observation may be required
On completion, learners may progress to: Level 2 or Level 3 NVQs in Fitted Interiors or Interior Systems. Apprenticeships within interior systems, drylining, or ceilings and partitions. Employment as a fitted interiors operative or installer. Further specialist construction qualifications. Learners will receive a certificate of competence from the awarding body.
