Skidsteer Loader Refresher

Overview

This refresher course is intended for experienced operatives who already hold a valid NPORS Skid Steer Loader certification and wish to renew their operator card. The training updates both theoretical knowledge and practical skills, ensuring that candidates continue to operate skid steers safely and effectively in accordance with current NPORS and health & safety regulations.

Certification Routes

NPORS Traditional Route:

  • Valid for 3 years
  • No NVQ or CITB Health, Safety & Environment (HS&E) test required

NPORS-CSCS Certification Route:

  • Red card (valid for 2 years) issued upon completion
  • To upgrade to a blue card (valid for 5 years), you must complete a relevant NVQ
  • Already got the NVQ? You’ll get the blue card straight away

Suitable For

Experienced skid steer loader operators who’s current NPORS card (N212) is due to expire and who require re-certification

Aims

  • By the end of the course, delegates will be able to:
    • Demonstrate up-to-date knowledge of the industry, including relevant legislation and operator responsibilities
    • Conduct pre-operational checks and safety inspections in line with legal and manufacturer requirements
    • Identify, inspect, and maintain appropriate PPE
    • Identify and explain the major components and controls of the machine
    • Prepare the skid steer loader for safe operation
    • Operate the machine across various terrains efficiently and safely
    • Carry out loading, manoeuvring, and transportation tasks
    • Understand environmental considerations affecting plant operations
    • Demonstrate safe machine transport, loading, and unloading procedures
    • Carry out proper end-of-shift and shutdown procedures

Prerequisites

  • • Candidates must hold a valid or recently expired NPORS Skid Steer Loader Card
    • Proof of certification is required prior to the course
    • Candidates must be physically fit to operate machinery safely

Teaching Methods

  • • Combination of classroom-based theory refresher and practical assessment
    • Theory and practical tests conducted at the end of the course

Outcome

Upon successful completion, candidates will receive an NPORS Operator Card or an in-house certification from Simply Learning.
