This course is designed to provide delegates with a thorough understanding of both the operational and safety responsibilities required when undertaking plant marshalling duties. It equips candidates with the skills necessary to guide plant and machinery safely on busy and high-risk sites.

Anyone responsible for directing or guiding plant machinery, especially in busy working environments, including construction sites, depots, waste transfer stations, and logistics yards.
To provide knowledge and understanding in the following areas:
• The roles, responsibilities, and legal requirements of a plant marshal
• Hazards associated with plant movement and risk mitigation
• Understanding the manufacturer’s guidance for the plant being marshalled
• Correct use of approved hand signals and other communication methods
• Selection and use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) relevant to marshalling activities
• Conducting safety checks on the work area, including tipping areas and stop blocks
• Setting up exclusion zones for safe plant movements and unloading
• Safely guiding plant in both forward and reverse directions, including confined spaces and blind spots
• Considering environmental factors when directing plant operations
• Completing end-of-shift procedures, including shutdown and secure parking
Upon successful completion, candidates will receive an NPORS Card, depending on the chosen certification route, or a Simply Learning in house certificate.
