Those employed in carrying out work on the highway who are required to locate underground apparatus.
To provide knowledge and understanding in the following areas:
– Interpret and understand plans showing location of underground apparatus
– Identify and understand how to identify types of utilities apparatus and highways services encountered during excavation
– Identify and understand the risks and implications of damage to underground utilities apparatus and highway services
– Use pipe and cable location equipment
– Safe digging techniques (HSG47)
– Theoretical training and assessment
– Practical training and assessment
Upon successful completion of the course, candidates will receive multiple CABWI Certificates and a Street Works Qualification Register (SWQR) Card.
