Prerequisites

  • No formal qualifications are required, although a Level 3 construction or contracting qualification is strongly recommended.
    Learners should be 18 years or older.
    Basic literacy and numeracy skills are recommended.
    Must be physically able to participate in site activities and supervision.
    An interest in construction site management, leadership, and civil engineering is essential.
    Ideally, learners will have access to a relevant workplace for practical assessment.

    A secure and reliable internet connection.
    Access to a laptop or desktop computer.
    A working webcam is required for training and assessment purposes.

Teaching Methods

  • This is a competence-based qualification, assessed through:

    • Workplace or simulated practical observation

    • Portfolio of evidence demonstrating applied skills and knowledge

    • Professional discussion and questioning

    • Witness testimonies where appropriate

    There are no formal examinations. Learners are assessed against national occupational standards to demonstrate competence in supervisory and management tasks on site.

    Remote assessment will be used wherever feasible; however, in some situations an in person observation may be required

Outcome

On completion, learners may progress to: Senior site management or project management roles. Professional membership pathways with construction institutes or chartered bodies. Further specialist technical or leadership training in construction. Learners will receive a certificate of competence from the awarding body.
