Forward Tipping Dumper Operator Refresher

Overview

This refresher course is designed to update and reassess experienced operators on the safe and efficient use of a forward tipping dumper in line with current NPORS standards. It ensures continued competence and compliance with health and safety legislation.

Certification Routes

NPORS Traditional Route:

  • Valid for 3 years
  • No NVQ or CITB Health, Safety & Environment (HS&E) test required

NPORS-CSCS Certification Route:

  • Red card (valid for 2 years) issued upon completion
  • To upgrade to a blue card (valid for 5 years), you must complete a relevant NVQ
  • Already got the NVQ? You’ll get the blue card straight away

Suitable For

This course is suitable for experienced forward tipping dumper operators who already hold an NPORS or equivalent recognised certification and are seeking to renew it.

Aims

  • By the end of the course, delegates will:
    • Refresh their understanding of the industry, associated hazards, and operator responsibilities
    • Revisit safe operation procedures in accordance with manufacturer guidelines
    • Reinforce knowledge of the major components and controls of the dumper
    • Conduct pre-use checks and safety inspections to the required standards
    • Operate the dumper safely over varied terrain and within site constraints
    • Load, transport, and tip materials correctly and efficiently
    • Attach trailers and configure for operation where required
    • Review environmental considerations and safe working practices
    • Carry out end-of-use procedures, shutdown, and securing protocols

Prerequisites

  • • Candidates must hold a valid and in-date NPORS or equivalent certification for Forward Tipping Dumper
    • Must be physically fit and medically able to operate machinery safely
    • Proof of certification must be provided before the course

Teaching Methods

  • • A blend of classroom-based theory and practical assessment
    • Includes written and practical tests to demonstrate continued competence

Outcome

Upon successful completion, candidates will receive an NPORS Operator Card or an in-house certification from Simply Learning.
